Experience A Thai Yoga Massage
What is Thai Yoga Massage?
A Thai Yoga Massage is quite a unique and powerful massage treatment which promotes the restoration of overall wellbeing by creating balance across your energy system. It is an ancient form of healing that originated in a Buddhist monastery which aims to bring balance on the physical, emotional, conscious, and spiritual levels.
It is a truly flexible massage treatment and can vary from a deep treatment to release trapped tension to a very light treatment promoting deep relaxation. In either case, it helps to balance and realign your physical body, create mental well being and strengthens the nervous system so you walk and feel tall.
To receive a Thai Yoga Massage is a totally different experience from any traditional massage. This is because it integrates the use of acupressure points form China with the yogic principles and stretches from India. These are held together with the rhythmical pressure that is applied to the 10 main sen or energy lines woven across the body. This unique combination of techniques creates a great physical and mental release, especially if you have been sitting at a computer all day, driving, carrying heavy loads or attending back-to-back meetings all day.
It is a fully clothed massage which takes place on a Japanese futon, no oils are used and it is always delivered with ‘metta’- tender loving care.
Training and background
Melanie originally learnt the art of Thai Yoga Massage in India from one of the training centers of The International School of Thai Yoga Massage created by Asokananda –the former leading authority of Thai Yoga Massage in the west. Since then, she has studied to an advanced level with Kira of The School of Thai Yoga Massage, London and Asokananda himself.
Being a versatile treatment, Melanie has linked its principles with training from The Mount Vernon Centre for Cancer Treatment to deliver the treatment to the critically ill, used aspects of the practice in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation programme, as well as brought peace of mind to the elderly in care homes. For mothers, executives, self- employed and generally busy people a Thai Yoga Massage can be used as a natural stress relief - lovely!!
