Personalise Your Yoga Practice
The Traditional Route for 21st Century Living One-to-One Yoga Sessions are a great way to understand your mind-body-spirit connection in a very specific way. Here are some reasons that people tend to opt for a personalised yoga programme:
Availability
Assistance with a specific problem
Re-habilitation process
Cannot find a class that suits their particular need
To gain confidence to join an existing class
What to Expect
Your first session will include an in-depth consultation to assess your current state of health; review your energetic profile; breath capacity as well as your particular aims and objectives. This can take up to 45 minutes before you start to work on your personalised yoga programme.
Your Yoga Programme
This will be designed based on your overall objectives for starting yoga and your personalised plan will draw from a range of disciplines of yoga depending on what you feel comfortable with. Generally the programme can include one or more of the following:
Asana to help improve the circulatory, skeletal, muscular systems
Pranayama to help balance your nervous and endocrine system
Meditation & Mantra to bring your mental & emotional energies to the practice.
Relaxation Techniques for overall balance
It may also include dietary and massage therapy advice depending on your specific requirements.
Your Plan
Once your programme has been agreed, a plan will be discussed to cover a period of time. The plan will consider:
Frequency of home practice
Frequency of review meetings
Dietry advice
Massage therapy advice
Daily life-style habits
At each review meeting, your progress and overall goals will be re-established at the beginning of each session; and each practice following the first will aim to help you work with your body on a deeper level as well as challenge your mind's responces.
It is worth noting that progress is measured by depth (which only you can assess) as well as the number of postures that your body can do. And traditionally, Yoga was always taught either as a One-to-One or in small groups to allow for the subtle changes in posture work and teaching method to suit the practitioner.
